Basketball Tourney Results

AICUO member Xavier University was seeded third in the West Region of the NCAA Division I men’s tourney, and plays its first game Thursday afternoon in Washington D.C. against the University of Georgia.

In the meantime, Michigan’s Hope College held its home-court advantage in the NCAA Division III tournament to defeat Ohio Wesleyan University, the basketball team from our membership that advanced the furthest into the tournament, 71-63 in a Great Lakes regional game last Friday night.

The Bishops’ defeat marks the end of AICUO members’ participation in postseason NCAA men’s and women’s basketball below Division I. Friday also marked the exit of all remaining AICUO members from the NAIA Division II men’s and women’s tournaments. However, we are proud of the achievements of these squads and look forward to seeing the continued success of Xavier, the last remaining AICUO member still playing.
