NCAA Division II and III Football: Three AICUO Members to Host Division III First-Round Games

Beyond the new big-money Division I "College Football Playoff" being inaugurated this year, the NCAA has long sponsored actual football tournaments in Divisions I-AA, II, and III, and AICUO members are well represented once again this year. In fact, all Division III qualifiers will be hosting first-round games this weekend. In the mean time, the travel news is not so good in Division II, as the one team in the tournament from Ohio plays two time zones away.

In the non-scholarship Division III, Mount Union and John Carroll from the Ohio Athletic Conference and Wittenberg from the North Coast Athletic Conference play first-round games on their home fields on Saturday. Mount Union, last year's runner-up and 11-time national champion, plays Adrian (Mich.) at 12 noon. John Carroll returns to the tournament with a home game against Centre (Ky.), also at noon. Wittenberg, two-time national champion, hosts Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) with kickoff also at noon.

The Division II tournament also begins Saturday, with Ohio Dominican returning to postseason play but with a 1,274-mile trip to play Colorado School of Mines, starting at noon.

No AICUO member is participating in the NAIA football tournament.
